WLS International

WLS international is the travel company we chose to volunteer with. They offer affordale and flexible volunteer programs across Asia and have received great reviews and testimonials! We will be staying in the volunteer homebase in Ho Chi Minh City along with the rest of the volunteers and our coordinator, Ms. Hang. Out of 7 different volunteer projects we chose to volunteer at the Shelter for Street Children and the Orphanage for Children with Disabilities and Agent Orange Victims. From Monday to Friday, we will be spending the morning at the shelter and the afternoon at the orphanage. Weekends are given to sightsee and explore.

Here is a brief overview of our responbilities at each project:

At the Shelter for Street Children we will be responsible for providing support and education to about 20 children from the age of 6. We will be teaching conversational English, helping them with their homework and taking part in outdoor activities.

The Orphanage for Children with Disabilities and Agent Orange Victims cares for approximately 400 abandoned children with mental or physical disabilities and agent orange victims.  We will be responsible for talking and playing with the children, helping the physiotherapists when they do the therapies for the children and feeding or teaching  some children how to feed themselves.
